Food or Fitness – or both?

Welcome to Emily Kennedy Food and Fitness! Thanks for visiting my site and learning about what a nutritionist can do for you.

In launching this business, I considered whether my personal consulting services should be solely focused on nutrition, or exercise, or both. In the end, I decided on both because both are important for a healthy lifestyle and weight control. I also have a background in both nutrition and kinesiology (physical activity) that could benefit my clients.

However, in working with people who are interested in losing weight, I will always start by looking at their diet, even if they are keen on exercise and already participate in many sports. Weight loss is 75 percent what you put in to your body and 25 percent what you do with your body.

Plus, if you’re not fuelling your body with the right foods, you will not reap the maximal benefits of exercise, no matter how hard you workout.

My weight loss approach: Fix your food first, then we’ll figure out the best exercise routine for you so you’re not wasting time on ineffective workouts.

Food remedies for fevers in the face of children’s medicine recalls
Many parents (myself included) panic when their child has a fever, especially when news of Tylenol recalls are making headlines. Instead of panicking, take a deep breath and recognize that your child’s fever is accomplishing very important things in their little body.

Seasonal eating and other ways to slim your waist, not your wallet
Seasonal berries infused with balsamic vinegar over grilled chicken sounds like an expensive, calorie laden meal, but it’s not.

The Food Marketing Institute has recently reported that 71% of us are cooking at home more often these days. That means more people are sitting in rush hour traffic rummaging through their cupboards and fridge in their minds, trying to figure out what’s for dinner.
